Mamatography October 2013

I cannot believe that October is coming to an end. What happened to Fall? It sped right by me!

IMG_6956

I think my little man has an idea where it went. . .

IMG_6998

Nope, mama. It’s not up there. . .

IMG_7027

It’s not in the water, but we’re getting close. . .

IMG_7072

Oh THERE’s the culprit that made fall fly by so fast! Our new home!

IMG_7064

Kodiak, Alaska!

I mean, really.  I feel like yesterday we were on the ferry and now we’re finally settled into our new home and making the adjustments needed to get acclimated to living 1) in Alaska and 2) on a semi-isolated island (and by semi-isolated, I mean it’s relatively easy to hop a plane to Anchorage if you have the time and money to do so).

Meanwhile, while we haven’t had the opportunity to jet set off to the Mainland yet. . . We’ve been hiking and exploring with new friends,

IMG_6883

Growing bigger and bigger each day. . .

IMG_6885

And loving each other wholeheartedly

IMG_6950

Oh and we can’t forget to mention the wild blueberries we picked this fall. YUMMY!

IMG_7069

It looks like Kodiak is a pretty cool place.

We’re just going to keep rolling with the punches and continue growing with each new opportunity.

That was our month. How has yours been?!

Mamatography Week 16 – Still chilly, but havin’ fun

IMG_0088

This week, we celebrated Joseph’s 2nd Birthday with a Thomas the Train themed party.

He was so excited! “My party! My Thomas party!”

IMG_2201

Joseph, Abbey and their friends had a great time coloring, playing, and snacking.

IMG_2194

We had a small ice cream cake with a Thomas candle for birthday wishes, and my friend Erica made adorable “balloon” cake pops for Thomas to pull down the tracks to Joe’s party.

IMG_2200

Joseph was so sweet to all of his guests, especially the youngest, our little neighbor, Noah. I was so proud of his lovely manners.

IMG_5755

Later in the week we had friends over for a cookout and the kids got pretty messy in the slightly wet sandbox and newly cleaned up back yard.

IMG_5765

“Hey, mom!”

IMG_5766

“Oh, yeah, I guess I DO have dirty hands.” LOL

IMG_5797

Even though it is still pretty chilly here (Spring, where ARE you?!), we still make sure to get outside to play. It was about 43′ the day I snapped this portrait of Abbey. . . she had just finished having a giant fit about the fact that it was cold, and that she had to wear a helmet while she rode her bike.

Joseph, cruising around the same day on his Rock, Roll, and Ride trike – with a lollipop (“loll- pop”)

IMG_5817

I got a couple cute snapshots of the kids at the park this week, too.

IMG_5827

Cheeeeeeeeeeese!

IMG_5838And I had to include this “still life” of Joe’s little Wrangler jeans. He is growing up SO fast!

That was OUR Week. How was YOURS?

mtbadge2This post is part of the Mamatography 2013 Project with Diary of a First Child and Momma Jorje.

We are taking (at least) a photo a day to keep a record of our year. Join us at any point during the year and start sharing your own daily photos!

Wordless Wednesday- Manual Portraits in the Chilly Weather

IMG_5823

The weather is still pretty chilly here in New England, and we’ve all got allergy symptoms going on, but we still make sure to get outside and play! I decided to take out my Canon Rebel XT again and take some “real” photos (as opposed to iPhone ones!) in manual. IMG_5829

Mamatography Week 49

It’s Week 49! Almost there! January is creeping up on us, and then we’ll start a New Year of fun, family, craziness, and I promise to photograph ALL of it!

Joseph and Abbey LOVE playing in the snow. Here they are catching snowflakes on their tongues! Yummy!

I have been hastily replacing Joseph’s older diapers (those that I sewed at the very beginning of my cloth-diaper sewing journey) with new ones.

While I’ve put the SBH Etsy Shop on Vacation for our Holiday get-away to Texas, I had a bit of extra time to whip up some new and adorable dipes for Joe Joe. The robot PUL print is one of my faves. Too bad I only had a small amount!

We’re saying “so long!” to the snow for a few weeks, as we travel to Texas to spend Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa and my brother, sis-in-law, and family.

Weeks 50-52 will come to you courtesy of my iPhone and Instagram, since we’ll be in Texas vacationing. . . and they actually may post AFTER the New Year.

But, what a fun journey it’s been, documenting the WHOLE year in photos!

Thanks to Luschka at Diary of a First Child for inspiring me to join in the Mamatography fun! And also to all of the other participants, and Courtney of Courtney Kirkland Designs, for inspiring teachings on photography and using my SLR camera!

Mamatography Week 26

This post is part of Mamatography 2012, a project hosted by Diary of a First Child. The goal is to document the entire year of 2012 in photos. Paired with my participation in fellow Coast Guard Wife Courtney Kirkland‘s 52 Faces project and her Move to Manual series, I am definitely learning more about my camera, my photos, & my kids, and I’ll have plenty of great photos to document 2012. Please visit the links at the bottom of my post to see other Mamatography posts! And if you are participating in Mamatography, click on over to the BLOG HOP going on at Diary of a First Child and join in!

It’s definitely summer! We’ve been having HOT and HUMID temps here in Maine.
LOVING the backyard – pool, sprinkler, sandbox, garden. .  we’re good!
Joe went up and down his very own “water slide” over and over and over.
Abs, talking to daddy about SOMETHING. Note the silly, stubborn look. Love.
A great (erm. . . lucky?) shot of Abbey jumping from the climber into the sprinkler.
Um, little Silly Bear. . . could you get ANY more gorgeous?
(This was one of my really good shots of this week. SLR-ariffic!)
Our veggie and fruit garden is growing well. Jed and I had the kids help mulch our front and back gardens this week. I have one “garden salsa” hot pepper that’s already 5 inches long. Almost time to harvest that sucker! And other peppers coming along. . . and our pumpkin plant is doing AWESOME.
Raven – enjoying the sunny afternoon on the porch
Our Pumpkin Plant. Seeded into the lawn and won’t let go. It’s going great. Anyone have tips on how to really get a good harvest or help the pumpkins grow?
Again, little Silly Bear . . . you’re TOO CUTE.
Looking forward to many more sprinkler-joy filled afternoons this summer!!!!!
I used to LOVE playing in the sprinkler with my big brother when I was little. I’m going to have to fish out some good pics of those times . . . maybe in the next couple weeks.
That was our week. How was yours!?
